Foot problem

Foot problem before a half marathon :
"Marius, I'm in a panic. 3 out of my 4 training days are inside on a treadmill plus some of the other machines. Saturday and/or Sunday is race day or long run day. Here's my question. Last Saturday I was at Central Park in NYC for a marathon training session20miles. Between mile 8 & 11 I got a burning in the balls of my feet that would NOT go away. I tried to walk it off...no good. My shoes are good Mizuno Wave Inspire 9. This has happened once before on an 8M race. I'm now in a panic because my 1st 1/2 marathon is 2 months away."
Answer: Hi Bob thanks for your question.
First of all, I would see a sports doctor to take a look at your foot to get a specific diagnosis of your problem. In most cases you need to do a little bit of resting, maybe some anti-inflammatory medications initially, but this is highly dependent on specifically what the problem is.
Second of all, change shoes. Go from Mizuno to Asics. I like Mizunoes but I've seen others run into similar problems like you using them (they are slightly more soft than most other brands in their sole) So in your case, I would actually change to Asics.
Third, do a gradual buildup in training again and if you start feeling this again, stop immediately, to not risk anything!
I wish you all the best,
kind regards, Marius
